39 years and Counting

Who would have thought we would be 39 years out of high school and be so young? The Class of 1975 had their 40th year reunion this year and invited us.  Not very many came, but we had a great time those who did.  It got us excited for our 40th reunion next year.

Happy 22nd Birthday Austy!

Austy turned 22 this year.  It's hard to believe…where does time go? He wanted to go to a Dodgers game so Bill and I took him for his birthday.  We stayed at Griff and Whit's the night before we flew out.  It was such a fun trip even though the Dodger's lost.
Happy, happy birthday Austy!
We went to dinner at Olive Garden with Griff, Whit and the Blakes.  Of course they sang Happy Birthday to Austy!
We rented a convertible to celebrate his big day!

We spent some time at the Los Angeles Temple Visitors Center.  It is beautiful!
Take me out to the ball game…..
They even had fireworks after the game to say "Happy Birthday" to Austy!
We had birthday dinner with the family when we got home.  Who could resist these cute girls?  Austin loves his nieces and nephews.

Doesn't look like Titus and Krayton were too excited about the birthday party!

Happy Birthday Mindy

Mindy loves cowboy boots! One day, I was walking by a store downtown and I saw the perfect birthday gift for Mindy.  There in the window was a pair of "Bengal" cowboy boots.  I was right….she was very surprised and happy when she opened them.
Happy Birthday Mindy!

Pioneer Trek

This summer our ward did a pioneer trek.  Many times it is just the young men and young women that participate in it but our Bishop wanted our entire ward to do it.  We were put in families and we pulled handcarts just like the pioneers did.  Of course we had the modern convenience of a porta potty that followed us along!  We did go without showers for three days though!
We laughed, we talked, we sang, we danced and we grew closer together and to our pioneer heritage.  The most inspiring part to me was the woman's pull.  The last morning, all the men were taken to be in the Mormon Battalion.  That left the woman and children to pack everything up and start on the trail without the men.  There was a steep mile hill to climb.  It was hard and long but we felt angels helping us as the men quietly slipped back and helped us to the top and then left again.
I loved watching the children along the trail.  They would play with each other, picking flowers, catching butterflies or playing cowboys and Indians, just like I imagine the pioneer children.  It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget!
Of course, Erin found the water…mud and all!
The Sweet Water Crossing enactment….Josh and his friends figuring out how to get everyone and everything across the "Sweet water River".

Josh and James bringing Brother McKee across.
Every night we had music with square dancing.  Even Austin joined in.
 Ausitn and Erin square dancing.
 The Mormon Battalion leaving…..
The view from the top was breath taking.
Our family….Erin, Josh and I and Garrett and Noel Anderson.

Cinderella

Cinderella is a classic and every little girls favorite movie.  This year a full feature non animated Cinderella came out.  Caitlin and I took Kalli and Kira.  It was so much fun and such a great movie.  The message of the movie was "have courage and be kind".  So important for the world we live in.  That is what I hope for my granddaughters….that they will "have courage" to stand for what is right and to "be kind."
Kalli and Kira going to Cinderella.
And these three….Chalice, Kalli and Hannah (who always seems to have her finger in her nose!)

Welcome Baby Krayton!

WELCOME
KRAYTON LENO-RICO BENEDETTI
JUNE 8, 2015
Another beautiful (grand) baby joined our family.  Krayton was born on June 8 and I was able to be there for his birth.  It never ceases to amaze me of the wonderful miracle of birth.  Kirstin was a trooper.  Brandon is a proud papa.  Kira was so happy to have a baby brother.  They are a sweet little family.  So grateful they are mine for Eternity!

Memorial Day…We will never forget!

I love memorial day.  I love that it is the start of summer.  I love more that is a time to remember our loved ones who have left us for a season and the wonderful influence they are on our lives.  I love it when we all gather at the cemetery and share thoughts and memories.  We truly are eternal families and will be together forever.  I am so grateful for that knowledge.
Lava cemetery….Dad, Kathleen, Grandma and Grandpa Seppi's graves.
My brothers and their families came for the weekend and mom came to our house for Polenta.  Little baby Titus was a big hit.  Mom loved holding him.
Memorial day is also about remembering all those who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms we enjoy in this great country.  Maddie and the grand ole' flag!
All of us at the Lava Cemetery.

 Maddie and the beautiful flowers.
All of us at the Inkom cemetery….Joy McNabb's grave.
