Girls Camp

We love girls camp!  That is when all the preparations are done and we get there.  I was asked to be the leader of the 4th year girls with Jamie Bell.  We had the responsibility to take the girls up a day early to camp for some fun and some leadership training.  Then they had responsibilities throughout the week that we helped them to accomplish.  We went to Steadman's Ranch water sliding.  It was a little cool at 10:00 am on June 20th but the girls didn't care.  They had a great time.  Then we went to Camp Cumorah to prepare for the rest of the stake to come up on Tues.  We played some games and made tutu's to wear throughout the week.  Erin is a 4th year this year so she was with us.  It was so fun to see her interact with the girls.  She loved them and they loved her.  They were awesome and carried out their responsibilities to a tee.  The theme this year was "Your Happily Ever After".  It was a talk given by President Uchtdorf to young women and is such a wonderful talk.  The Stake leaders did an awesome job all week creating spiritual opportunities for all of the girls. 

Skit night is always a highlight.  The Stake's skit was about the temptations the youth face and how we need to be strong to resist them.  Yes, Amy Williams and I were chosen to be the bad influences.  We were the drunk and the doper. We had a fun time doing it and the girls seemed to like it.  Our Stake Young Women's President, Jennifer Davis, said it best at the morning devotional the last morning of camp.  She said that she knew the week had been packed with lots of spiritual talks and activities.  She said that it is important to know how to build a fire and give first aid.  But she said that when they started school again in the fall there weren't going to be any fires to start.....they needed to know what the spirit felt like directing them so that they would make the right choices.  It was an awesome week.  I'm so glad that I could be there with Erin.
