Every year there is a 40 mile relay from Idaho Falls to Bone and back. It is called "To Bone and Back Relay". Ryan asked me the first part of June if I would like to run it with him. He said that they were only 5 mile lengths and that I could pick which one I wanted to run. I thought it sounded fun so I said "yes". I didn't think about it being the Saturday right after girls camp. We stay up way too late talking and giggling all week at girls camp so I was pretty tired when we had to be up by 5:30am to drive to Idaho Falls on Sat morning. Then I looked at our relay team and the terror outweighed being tired. I was 25 plus years older than all of our teammates. I had picked the 3rd length which didn't have too many hills in it. Ryan was the 2nd length right before me and he had 5 miles of straight up hill. He ran it in 32 min and passed 29 people. The pressure was on....I certainly didn't want to see all of those 29 people pass me back up on my length. I must have been on adrenalin rush because I ran it the fastest time I have ever run a 5 mile race, 43 min., and only 5 of those 29 passed me up. I was so relieved! We ended up in 5th place....not bad for "Worst pace Scenario". It was so fun....thanks for letting me be part of the team!
